Diagnosis of the fossil dinocyst Phthanoperidinium Drugg et Loeblich is emended in view of various compound archeopyle types observed along with the intercalary type already known.

Dinoflagellate, acritarch, chitinozoa and spores and pollens are examples of organic-walled microfossils. Dinoflagellates are single-celled organisms, acritarchs and chitinozoa are.
